Dear Eighth Grade Parents/ Guardians:

Plans are being finalized for the BIS class of 2024! You will find information relating to our 8th Grade Promotion and Activities attached. Please read through this entire packet, and be sure to return the following items to the office by Friday, May 24, 2024:

1. Great America Permission Slip

2. Celebration Dance Permission Slip

3. Promotion Communication Form

4. Promotion & Activities Payment

To cover costs for the following, a donation of $85.00 is being requested per student.

*Class Shirt

*Great America ticket, lunch and buses

*Celebration Dance
*Promotion Ceremony decorations

If you have financial difficulties and cannot pay this amount, please contact Jamie Smith atjsmith@burlingameschools.org or 259-3830. We want every eligible student to be able to participate.

Directions so that your student can leave early on Promotion Day. Call the school before June 10 to have your child leave early from school on Promotion Day. The office number is (650) 259-3830. This provides the school with your permission for the administration and teachers to release your child. We will dismiss them at one of the following times that you must choose in advance. Starting at 10:00 am, we will have 15 minute increments to release your child.

This is an exciting time for you, your child, and the proud staff at BIS. We will honor each student's hard work with a Celebration Dance, a trip to Great America, and a Promotion Ceremony. We want to be sure this milestone is well-marked and provides your child with meaningful memories. We understand this is a special event, but we encourage you to keep this eighth-grade promotion in perspective, saving more sophisticated and elaborate gifts and parties for future graduations. May this be the beginning of many more prideful celebrations to come!
